A lightly effervescent and supremely sessionable alternative which has an almost orange wine like quality we can't get enough of.

After a glass and some tunes, I was starting to get in the mood. Following the whole bottle (which has a pleasantly sharp, dry taste, unlike a lot of the other overly sugary alcohol-free wines I’ve tried), I was unstoppable.

It tastes great – like a spritzy blend of cucumber, gooseberry, apricot and hay, with a tickle of spice on the finish. An evening of drinking it was followed by a night of very vivid dreams.

Wine alternatives (“Blurred Vines” being my favorite alcohol-free wordplay ever) called Spark and Sharp, also suggesting the alcoholic warmth that wine provides with a gentle hit of capsaicin.

Spark, a bubbly brew that loosely mimics Champagne, has a base of pressed strawberries and red currants and features a mix of black and green teas from the Rare Tea Company in London, along with hints of cayenne pepper and schisandra berry.

Blurred Vines are our non alcoholic wine alternatives. We took inspiration from wine, ferments, and looking at new ways to create liquids we would want to drink, share and shout about. We focus on what goes into our drinks rather than what is taken out, so rather than creating a de-alcoholised wine we built our alternative from the ground up. Using functional plants, rare teas, and fermented fruits, we designed Blurred Vines with wine in mind.

Spark is lively, pink and full of fizz. On the nose are bright aromas of fresh strawberry, green vines and delicate tea. Bright acidity and elegant tannins come with dry redcurrant, floral green tea and a lick of chili. Notes of fermented apricot are carried by silky bubbles to a lingering finish of biscuity black tea and subtle fruits. Sharp is crisp, bright, and elegant. Manuka leaf and pressed gooseberries form the nose. A very light spritz opens up a mineral, racy texture with hints of apple blossom, fermented apricot and lime peel. Bold acidity and gentle tannins make your mouth water with lingering herbal notes of verbena and jalapeño to finish.

Each product has a unique ‘stack’ - a selection of functional ingredients that work in harmony with each other to produce a particular vibe. With an ideal 1-2-3 of caffeine, L-theanine and chili, Spark is lively, energising and euphoric. In Sharp, Californian poppy and clary sage remedy the mind-stalling impacts of stress and anxiety. A complex of amino acids, vitamin D and B-vitamins provide essential building blocks to bring your brain to full power, and minerals from coconut water ensure full hydration for optimum alertness.

Best served chilled, keep Blurred Vines in the fridge before serving. They are best consumed on the day of opening to enjoy the full mouthfeel. Once opened, seal with a bottle stopper and store in the fridge, consume within 2 days.
